My blog is combination of my paintings and experience with painting and my long time interest in my family's genealogy. I have been painting for about 20 years but really only in earnest for the past 5 or so. My genealogic pursuits started about 20 years ago when I learned that the local Mormon Family History Library had microfilms from all over the work. My current database now numbers about 1700 people covering 15 or more generations and about 575 years.

I thought it was time to show some progress. The autumn scene is the first oil painting I ever did. I took a class at MCCC and this was the result. I think my landscapes have come a long way.
The little boy is the first portrait I ever did (1995). It is from a sepia drawing that we bought at Sears 40 years ago. The original reminds me of Joe, I guess, and I will not part with it. This was my attempt to add color to it by copying it onto canvas.
