Listening to Mr Ryan's speech raised my blood pressure. The lies and inaccuracies were legion. His first reference to GM closing in his hometown prompts asking who saved GM? Mr. Obama did. Mr. Romney thought it should file chapter 11. The federal government bailed out the auto industry and saved it along with all the jobs at GM and industries that supply the auto industry.
His mom started her business and did it all by herself. She rode a bus everyday after having built it and she drove it each morning to Madison. That's how she did it all by herself! No help from anyone.
The President caused the drop in the government bond rating. The fact that Congress spent days debating whether to raise the debt ceiling and that he rating agencies lowered the bond rating because of that debate is irrelevant. It was the President who did it.
Mr. McConnell stated in 2010 that the primary job of the Republican Congress was to deny Mr. Obama a second term. During the next 2 years, they repealed the Health Care Act 33 times at a cost of over $30 million dollars. They threatened filibusters to block jobs legislation, stimulus bills and every and any piece of legislation proposed by the Democrats whether or not the Republicans had previously supported it. The mandate in the Affordable Care Act is just one example. The conservative think tanks advocated the mandate. Romney care in Massachusetts has the mandate. However, as soon as Obama advocated the mandate, the Republicans were against it!
We are now thanking the veterans but the Republicans don't want to provide extra health care or education for them. The veterans from the current 2 wars, have served longer and have greater wounds and trauma than any previous generation. They need and deserve full medical care and education and training.
The Republicans want smaller government unless its following a woman who is seeking an abortion. Then the government must be very active. Wonder how fast the governors will line up for federal aid once Isaac passed the gulf coast. The small government better be there ASAP to provide benefits and support, which it should!
